Jennifer Stevens, MS, LCMHCA

Jennifer is a compassionate, client-centered counselor who specializes in working with children (ages 10+), teens, and adults navigating anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, Autism, ADHD, and athletic performance concerns. With decades of experience supporting individuals and families, she brings a deep understanding of development, communication, emotional regulation, and identity across the lifespan into her counseling work.
Before becoming a counselor, Jennifer spent many years as a speech-language therapist, working closely with children, adolescents, and their families. This background provides a unique perspective—particularly when supporting adolescents and adults who are neurodivergent, experience executive functioning challenges, or struggle with social communication and self-advocacy. In 2022, she earned her Master’s degree in Counseling from East Carolina University and transitioned fully into the mental health field, providing counseling services in a high school setting. She later entered private practice, where she offers a supportive, affirming space for clients to explore their experiences, build skills, and move toward meaningful change. Her therapeutic approach is integrative and tailored to each client’s needs, goals, and personal values. She draws from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Person-Centered Therapy, and Solution-Focused Therapy, while incorporating polyvagal-informed strategies to support nervous system regulation. As a trained EMDR therapist, she offers EMDR therapy to help clients process trauma, stressful life experiences, and long-held negative beliefs when it is appropriate and supportive for the client. Jennifer believes therapy should feel collaborative, safe, and empowering. She meets clients where they are, honors their individuality, and works alongside them to build resilience, confidence, and practical tools for daily life. Outside of her clinical work, Jennifer enjoys cheering for her sons at basketball games, reading, attending theater performances, prioritizing fitness and healthy living, and crafting. She and her family live in Huntersville, North Carolina. Jennifer is currently licensed as an associate/provisional provider in North Carolina and is completing her supervised clinical hours toward full licensure. |
