Amy opened her own practice in 2020 after 25 years of providing therapy in various settings. Her experience is diverse, including working with adolescents in residential treatment, providing direct care and clinical supervision in a non-profit setting, and supporting patients and families struggling to live with chronic and terminal illnesses. Amy has been working in private practice in the Lake Norman area since 2007 and opened her own practice in early 2020. Amy is a proud Tarheel, graduating from Chapel Hill in 1995. She then attended the University of Illinois and graduated with a Masters of Social Work and a Masters of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy in 1998.
Amy is known as a direct, honest, and empathic counselor. Amy trained primarily as a relationship counselor and enjoys working with couples of all types. Amy also sees individual adults. Amy was previously trained as a Love and Logic provider and has 24+ years working with parents on parenting techniques for children of all ages. Amy regularly works with other "helping" professionals to manage personal and work stress while increasing coping and self-care. Amy utilizes all types of techniques in therapy, and can customize her approach to suit each client. Amy lives in the Lake Norman area and has two daughters. She and her husband have been married for over 20 years. Amy enjoys theater, singing, gardening, and anything chocolate. The family has two cats, and lots of fish. |

Information about Services and Non-Insurance Rates
Amy is eager to meet with you in person for your most productive counseling experience.
In-person sessions are required for couples work with Amy.
Telehealth counseling can be used as a secondary modality when necessary.
Amy offers daytime appointments during the week on Tuesdays & Thursdays, as well as some Wednesdays.
Non-insurance rates for 2025 are as follows:
Assessments/Initial Evaluations: $200/hour
Therapy hours thereafter: $170/hour
Consultation (Individual, Family, or Couples): $200/hour
A detailed good faith estimate of services will be provided to those clients
not using insurance at the time of service or upon request.
Couples seeking counseling should schedule a consultation they can both attend first.
Consultations are not submitted to insurance. Clients will be responsible for the full fee at the time of consultation.
Couples or individual counseling sessions thereafter will be submitted to insurance, and are typically covered.
